I can’t believe in my eyes!

The Government Portal of the Philippines got itself a new facelift!

The upper header of the portal is changed and now has a new clean, clear, crisp layouts, site is easy to navigate, even a 10 year old might find this a piece of cake! The tab portions, categories and sections are well placed and balanced and proportioned.

On a technical point of view! the site rocks! I also discovered that they’re using open source content management systems – Joomla! and a modified version of the template, the metatags; description, still have the joomla keywords in it attached. But no worries, it’s easier to tweak and do some minor changes.

Kudos to the developer of the site! Job well done, I’m being biased – it’s great to see sites using open source software as means of cutting down development costs.

The website of Badian Cebu was defaced!

The above-mentioned website was discovered a month later after doing some surfing ang searching for government related sites created using joomla cms.

The site is probably using an older, un-patched version of joomla, (ie; joomla version 10.12?)  I think the attack vector used on this site is most likely sql injection or buggy plugins, mambots, components exposing those exploits.

The sad part is the site seems has not been fixed for more than a month now. The site must be patched and migrated to a secure file. Duh! I don’t know what I’m taking about.

The webmaster’s part must check for file permissions, log file analysis to better curb the problem and backup often.

Yeah! DepEd Region 11 website is no longer accessible in the web!

Scrambling on the google search engine and keyed in the keywords  “deped region 11″ and I found nothing.

DepEd Region 11 website was used to be in the top google search engine results complete with sitelinks with a google pagerank of 6.

It appears to me that the said website was somehow or in my own humble speculation was deleted? or probably the webserver hosting the website service crashed? or wasn’t backed-up properly?

Attention to the one maintaining the service! get the website back up and running! The website was down for almost a month now.

I can’t contain myself!
I really love what automattic has done to wordpress! I discovered that any individual can create and assign users of different access levels ie: administrator,  contributor,  editor accounts.

I find this useful and handy especially when you’re too busy juggling with obligations, and want to assign someone to do publishing of articles, then  delegating the work is quite easy.

Dream come true for me! I’m planning to have a blog site soon, God willing! and with Blogie’s help I hope this will come.
